A passion for the printed line

David DeSpain is the owner of the Damaged Design Studios and has spent over 30 years in the graphic arts and design fields. He started drawing at the age of 5 and got his first job as an apprentice in a print shop when he was 14. He landed his first real job at an established printing company at the age of eighteen and was employed with the company for 26 years. He became a partner within 2 years and bought the company 16 years later. His true passion was graphic design and he spent years creating ad campaigns for Mid Valley Athletic Club, Mobil Oil, First American Home Warranties and countless others. His client list includes some of the finest and most successful people in a variety of industries. With over 300 accounts David DeSpain has designed shampoo packaging for Lanza Industries, product packaging for Cal Pump, logo design and printing for companies such as L&B Investments, Marshall Ezralow & Associates and The Structure Development Group. David also worked for MTV studios in Santa Monica and freelanced for VH1. David designed the logo that was used on Howard Stern's show "Son of the Beach". David has also worked with Tito Jackson for apparel design and silk screening. David designed the CD cover and logo designs for Billy Mason from Eddie Money and the Dave Mason group. David started one of the first chalk style menu board companies in the United States and went on to design and manufacture menu boards for 16 of the Kelly's Coffee and Fudge Factory franchises, including locations in Arizona. His credits also include Il Forno Italian Restaurants with locations in China and the USA. He also designed the interior art for Lucky Devils Gourmet Cafe in Hollywood, California. He is currently and has been involved in over 57 restaurant openings. He has designed countless logos and specializes in brand identity. David also worked with the CRA (California Redevelopment Agency) headed by then mayor Richard Riordan for block development of storefronts and signage in the San Fernando Valley, California area. All of this experience has led him to focus solely on his newest venture, the damaged design studio creating art, lighting, artistic furniture and sculpture all from recycled materials.
